I upgraded from a laptop to a desktop, which made sense. Some of the changes I made this year really paid off. The SSD, RX 470, and switching from a mediocre $20 Logitech mouse to a Corsair m65 pro RGB were the most satisfying improvements.

It's a significant upgrade from your old 21:9 60Hz display to the new 27-inch 1440p 144Hz panel with G-Sync. The smooth performance is impressive!

Previously: transitioning from a C64 using a datasette (slow 40-minute loads and frequent failures) to an Amiga with a built-in floppy. Then moving to a 286 that included a hard drive was the next major advancement. Now: increasing from a quad-core processor to more cores. Enjoy smoother performance with Boinc running quietly in the background.

I’d like to start by creating my first gaming-focused computer. The previous systems I used were fine for casual play, but getting quality parts that truly handled games was the most satisfying experience. All prior improvements have been gradual upgrades, enhancing gaming performance without any drastic changes. This approach has stayed consistent across CPUs, memory, storage, graphics cards, monitors, and peripherals.
