I suspect I've caught a strange issue with the AMD builds recently. My current setup includes an AMD Ryzen 7 5800X, MSI MAG B550, Gigabyte Radeon RX 5700 XT, two 8GB DDR4 RAM modules at 3200 MHz, a Seagate 1TB drive, a Western Digital 3TB SSD, and a 750W power supply. The PC starts up normally, but I keep hearing USB disconnections and it turns into chaos. Explorer.exe stops working, keyboard and mouse become unresponsive, ICUE crashes, and I can't launch new programs. It feels like a power problem or graphics card failure—even with an older card it still had issues. Sometimes audio glitches before the system crashes. After a fresh Windows install and driver updates, the problem persists. I'm overwhelmed because I spent around $600 on this build and don’t want to just replace parts blindly. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
I'm curious about whether this concerns the initial B550 USB problems that were fixed through BIOS updates. From what I remember, it seems the affected components might vary depending on the BIOS version installed. If your setup uses an older BIOS release, updating it could resolve the issue.
My friend who sold me those components mentioned the same issue again. I’ve updated the board to the last one that’s still having problems.
I generally obtain my chipset drivers from AMD, though I'm confident either source works just fine.
