Your present Intel CPU is significantly superior compared to reverting to an AMD 9590. Upgrading your GPU would be even better! Avoid going backward to an AMD 9590 at all costs.

It's really disappointing. That's usually not a positive outcome, so consider changing it. An I5 performs better than the FX.

Also I don't think any z97 mobo is pcie 2.0, I believe they are all 3.0 and even so a 3.0 gpu will work perfectly on a motherboard with pcie 2.0. I have an MSI board with pcie 2.0 using a GTX970 for running division in my wife's computer and it runs the game flawlessly at 1080p with no issues at all, maintaining 60fps throughout all high settings. Upgrade your power supply to something like an EVGA or XFX. Cheap off-brand power supplies will ruin a whole computer when...not if but when they fail. Upgrade your PSU and GPU and keep the Intel because it's superior to the AMD.

your cpu is better than the fx. don't switch to amd. regarding your psu, i'll treat it as faulty since it's not well-known. it might be average at best, given you don't have issues running r9 270x with it. don't waste your money. if you want improved gaming performance, consider a stronger gpu. i'd also recommend a high-quality psu if you plan to upgrade.

JimmyEatWord shared feedback on a discussion about upgrading components. Chris987 mentioned that switching to a better GPU might not be worth it, as the 9590 upgrade could be seen as a downgrade. They also noted that changing the GPU would require updating the motherboard, which is complicated due to the latest BIOS supporting only PCIe 3.0. The user confirmed their motherboard (Z97-K) supports PCIe 3.0 and stated they have never tried AMD before.

Receive a gtx970 that performs exceptionally well at a very reasonable cost, honestly.

So it's not great at all. That's usually not a good sign, I think you should change it. And an I5 is better than the FX.

azzazel_99 :
the gtx970 is a really great card, performing well and priced fairly. You might be right, but I’ve been hooked on ati/amd lately—I just want to buy it for the satisfaction it brings.

then obtain an R9 380x or R9 390. I’d prefer the 390, but the 380x is also a solid option.
