I can't oc my cpu
Hi.
I'm trying to increase the core frequency of my 2 quad q9300 processors from 2.5ghz to at least 3.0ghz. I have an MBIGabyte GA-EP41-UDL3 and after making all the necessary changes in BIOS, my screen turns black after about 5 seconds. Once the PC restarts, the CPU-Z shows no changes, but it says the PC has "refreshed" or adjusted voltage. However, I suspect something might be wrong because other components aren't working properly. I'm pretty sure my motherboard doesn't support overclocking. What do you think?
What amount of RAM do you possess, and how many modules are there?
Hey there. I didn't attempt that myself. Just let me know when you try it and I'll do my best to assist you. I have an xeon e5440 on a 775 motherboard, overclocked to 3.2ghz, so I can offer some guidance.
Sorry for the delayed reply, my friend. I put off my 1.5GB RAM and now have two 2GB sticks with a 2.7GHz DDR2800. I tried again and everything changed in the BIOS, but my CPU isn’t overclocked. I know it’s possible to bring it up to 3.2GHz, but how?
Sorry for the delayed reply, my friend. I put off my 1.5gb RAM and now have two 2gb sticks at 1200mhz each, totaling 4gb. I tried again but everything changed in the BIOS yet my CPU isn't overclocked. I understand it's possible to reach 3.2ghz, but how? Are those two sticks from the same manufacturer and with identical speeds and clocks? If not, leave just one 2gb stick as I mentioned before. Are you absolutely certain you know how to properly configure the BIOS settings for overclocking?
