Thanks a lot! Sure, I will try the MemTest. But most of the time my computer freezes right when it starts. It gets there with the auto-repair fix but then stops completely. For instance, it was just booting up and got to the automatic recovery repair part and froze at that exact moment.

You should do what you did here, and use it for more than ten minutes at once, and only link one device before testing, to find the problem. It might be a USB issue, but something else could be involved too. Just connect one thing at a time, then test for ten minutes.

Both things can bring problems like bad memory that stops the computer from starting, slow speeds, or sudden crashes. Also, if your power supply is dirty or unstable because of poor consistency, you might get strange and unpredictable issues too.

Is it safe to use the old surge protectors, or should I swap out for fresh ones?

I got a fresh unit from Microcenter so I could be careful if this was the problem. What kind of cooler do you have on hand for your processor?

I just wanted to say thanks to all of you who helped me fix things. Turns out, the problem was the CPU. I swapped that one out and now everything runs perfectly. Thank you so much!

Did I get that straight? Were you turning on the computer when there wasn't any cooling fan sticking to the chip inside it?
