Motherboard works well, but you might save more by searching online for alternatives with that socket.

Have you checked out ASRock? They make a B450 that really holds up well—it’s not fancy, but it works perfectly for what you need. I totally get your frustration with all the devices failing unexpectedly.

My machine runs the B450 PRO4 with a R5 2600x and an RX480 8GB. All storage devices are reused.

Cheaper motherboards aren't always a bad deal. Check online reviews before purchasing. Avoid buying very inexpensive boards unless you're okay with overclocking. Opt for something around $80 if you don’t need high performance.
