I viewed a tutorial and saved the program (Macrium Reflect FREE). My computer freezes and stops at that stage, freezing and crashing. I’m moving storage from 1TB to 4TB on Windows 11, which is current.
You (and probably others) might not like this answer but don't clone do a fresh re-install. Although not needed as much as in the past a good refresh every now and then ain't bad, for de-bloating, re-optimizing and re-evaluating your windows experience, a new Storage seems like the perfect moment to do it. Sure it may be a bit more time consuming then a cloning but the pros far out weight the cons.
You can test it with other programs too. I used DiskGenius, a free tool, and saw a tutorial on migrating an OS in this video. If it encounters issues, try freezing and crashing as well—this could indicate something unusual. Once the migration works and you boot on the new drive, you’ll have to re-set up the Windows Restore Points, especially if you used that method before.
I found the lexar NM790 listing elsewhere, not on Samsung's official site. I assumed another brand might offer it.
I rely on Diskgenius, excluding the cloning option. I generate a disk image and then transfer it to the new storage device. It has consistently functioned well for me. https://www.diskgenius.com/free.php
I may just do it as fresh install just because i keep getting stuck on this part on and this is a new software i just hope that the Lexar SSD i got from amazon is not a fake
Verify and fix the damaged areas on the drive first. This issue suggests the disk may have faulty sections. Look for it in the "DISK" section. That’s not a problem from the program.
You can try this in Disk Management. It allows you to check and manage disk settings, including drives with moving parts like mechanical ones. For SSDs, ensure they're properly recognized and configured. If unsure, consult your system documentation or support.
