I own a Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R with 16GB DDR3 RAM and an Xeon W3690 hex core. The CPU features an unlocked multiplier, which is why I purchased it. To keep the CPU cool, I’m using an AIO cooler from Coolermaster. It includes four 120mm fans that provide a 3.33 mm/h20 static pressure. Eventually, I plan to tweak the multiplier instead of changing the BIOS settings, since this CPU is unlocked. Below is the link to my motherboard so I can boot at 1.267XXX volts. The multi is currently at X30, with the BLK at 133, and I’ve successfully booted after running Prime95 for eight hours without issues. If I increase the multi beyond X30, it either won’t boot or causes blue screens during Windows 7 startup. It seems X30 is my current limit. I’m new to this and haven’t adjusted BLK PL or QPI before. I’ve read several guides but still feel uncertain.
This CPU requires careful overclocking adjustments. Key parameters such as TDP, TRL, and TDC need to be fine-tuned. The recommended maximum voltage is 1.35V. However, if the system overheats, performance will decrease due to throttling. There are relevant discussions available online for guidance.
