I need to set up a driver for your LAN port on your ASUS H97 Gamer Pro. I want to use Ethernet since my Wi-Fi isn’t working well. The only issue is that I need an internet connection to do this. I’m using Windows 8.1.

since windows is quite intelligent, you should download the drivers from another computer, save them on a USB stick, and then install them using that drive. linux has handled this issue for quite some time, but windows still has its challenges.

they would be safe from competitors at the moment. setting up Linux on your device is a great idea—hope you succeed in locating the right tools. building a hackintosh? just remember, you need to grab that LAN driver yourself. These topics are quite different in scope.

It relates more to the LAN chip than Windows. If you have a special LAN chip such as Killer, you won't be covered by PnP drivers. You can still use the disk.
