I need to set up Ubuntu 20.04 LTS on my Crucial SSD. The installation process doesn’t let me install it alongside Windows, even when I select the "something else" option. In previous attempts, I had to manually change the boot order in BIOS each time and risked damaging the MBR. I’m looking for someone who can guide me through this setup.

You may not have set up the GRUB bootloader for dual operating system installation. This manual could assist you. It’s suggested to repair your MBR before attempting a dual boot of Windows and Ubuntu.

I should have mentioned my MBR is okay because I reformatted all my drives, and right now only Windows 10 is installed. If I choose the alternative option again and follow the guide you linked, I think it would work. The "Install alongside Windows 7" choice isn’t available.

Oh right, I missed that detail. What you were aiming for was actually setting up Ubuntu on a different disk, not just placing it on the same drive as Windows. If GRUB doesn’t recognize another partition, you’ll need to configure it properly. You can follow the steps from the Unix Stack Exchange guide to add a GRUB entry and adjust your BIOS settings so it picks the right boot device.
