Details - CPU - i7 10700K COOLER - NZXT Kraken X61 MOBO - Asrock B560 PRO4 RAM - Corsair Vengeance LPX 32GB @3000 GPU - Gigabyte RTX 3060 Ti OC M.2 SSD - WD Blue SN550 NVMe 1TB SSD - Crucial MX500 1TB SSD - Crucial MX500 2TB PSU - Corsair HX1000 I have two potential problems from recent changes but not very familiar with tech to pinpoint the cause. I assembled my first system about a year ago after buying a 2060, which worked perfectly with no issues and my parts. I sold the 2060 and upgraded to a 3060Ti three weeks later, then changed my PSU from a Corsair HX850i to a Corsair HX1000 from Umart because it was seven years old. I don’t recall if the 3060Ti had problems with my old PSU since the performance jump from the 2060 to the 3060Ti was so significant that I didn’t notice. But lately, over the past week or so, it’s been experiencing serious problems.

First concern is the VGA indicator on the motherboard illuminates briefly before shutting off during startup, after which all other power indicators cease. This makes me suspect the PSU might be the culprit.

Second, in many games, the GPU only uses 30-60% of its capacity, which is usually acceptable until it stutters or takes a long time to load, causing FPS drops. A few still manage 80-100% usage but with lower FPS.

Third, something puzzling is the power indicator light on the GPU appearing above the 6+2 pin connector during restarts or shutdowns, then briefly turning off.

Fourth, the display goes black for longer periods than usual, even when switching monitors off. In some cases, it flickers more than normal.

Lastly, during power cycles or reboots, all component LEDs dim and flicker more than before. Everything is installed identically to when I had the HX850i and RTX 2060. I’ve tried updating BIOS, using DDU for GPU diagnostics, switching PCIe lanes to Gen 3, changing RAM settings, overclocking/underclocking the GPU, using different cables from the PSU, and even testing single vs. multi-rail modes on the PSU. Nothing changed.

I’m unsure whether to order a replacement for the GPU, PSU, or both. I have screenshots from HWmonitor, in-game logs, and Hwinfo64 records while using all fresh cables in single-rail mode.

Previously shared advice suggested removing the GPU driver via DDU, cleaning the system without restarting. All processors should be restarted through BIOS, flash the latest BIOS, then revisit BIOS settings to apply defaults or optimizations, save changes and exit. Restarted Windows and installed the newest chipset and ME drivers, followed by a reboot. Installed the latest GPU driver, connected to the internet, ran cmd as administrator, executed chkdsk /x /f /r, followed by sfc /scannow. Checked for Windows updates. None of these steps resolved the issue, and testing GPU in the second slot on the mobile device caused significant performance drops.
