I'm setting up a new NAS/plex server with 24 drives purchased from a friend. They're connected through a Super Micro X9SRI-F MOMAX card via an LSI 9207-8E HBA to a Dell H345 SAS expander, which uses six breakout cables to reach the drives through a backplane (data ports run straight and the backplane only provides power). So far, Windows 10, Truenas Core, and Truenas Scale have all been able to see the drives and their smart data in Windows, but initialization fails with an IO error on both copies. The smart data still appears, yet Truenas shows zero space. Any advice or solutions would be really helpful.

after my first attempt, i connected a standard sata drive and it functioned properly through the backplane and everything else worked fine

It was on the verge of deleting this entry, but it turned out they’re not NetApp—they’re still part of a San and vendor-restricted setup. Thanks for the response, you're welcome!
