Did you review the TV show category? If it’s empty, move the files from your computer to the iTunes area you wish them in. iTunes will incorporate them and you’ll be able to connect them to your iPod.

Move the videos to the "movies" or "TV Shows" section in iTunes. Place them where you'd normally find videos if they existed there.

iTunes hasn't handled the Matroska format well. The top choice is to install a standalone app. nPlayer stands out, while others may be untrustworthy or full of ads. VLC is an option but it's uncertain right now due to iOS8 issues. These programs let you upload files through the device's app menu when connected.
