Hello, the Linux Mint 18.1 ISO indicates you need to verify it. However, you're unable to download the required files. Is verifying the ISO still necessary? Thanks for your help!

it assists in avoiding mistakes during setup. check the text file from the source to obtain the checksum hash. run SHA256 on your ISO file. are you running on Windows? Use CertUtil -hashfile linux-mint-filname.iso SHA256 compare the results with the file. i prefer downloading ISO files via torrent since it includes built-in verification, which I find more reliable than web downloads. i've downloaded numerous ISO installers without any failures so far.

I haven't tried it before and didn't encounter any issues setting up mint, but I think it's a good idea to follow the recommendations. It's up to you to decide.
