YouTube now restricts uploading in high resolutions like 4K, making it inaccessible for many channels despite its capabilities. This change is likely due to bandwidth limitations or other unspecified factors.
I don't know that that's true. I uploaded a 4K render, of a 3d model on youtube, and then viewed it from a different channel at a friends house shortly after. Took it down because I didn't want it on my channel but it worked for two different channels at least so........
Yeah, I took a while to write up my post and so, knowing how quick people can respond on here, by the time I hit the "Post" button the problem was already solved. Anyway, I'm glad you managed to get help to solve your problem. I know how annoying certain things can be sometimes and so it's good that you were able to fix it. I don't know why Google likes to force HTML 5 on you. It's happen to me as well and I just used Magic Actions to fix the issue since I already have it installed and use many of the plugins other features as well.
We examined it in the original 4K quality with the 2160p setting enabled.
The speed enhancement feature seems promising but hasn't shown noticeable results for me. Have you tried it? Does it really improve your buffering time? Also, curious about resource consumption when streaming 4K content—would it be best to use the same video for testing? For my setup (4.4GHz i5 2500K, GTX 480), it uses around 30-60% CPU and 50-60% GPU usage across cores. I also noticed with the Magic Actions plugin it doesn't block HTML5 in embedded videos, though Flash Player works in all cases. I'll update the post to note this behavior.
