A few days back I purchased my initial laptop "ASUS TUF F15 FX507ZI (i7 12700h/RTX4070/1TB SSD/16GB memory)".
The seal on my brand new laptop's box was removed, but it appeared clean and untouched inside. When I removed it and attempted to power it on, it wouldn't turn on until I connected it to the charger. Once it booted up and Windows was set up, the battery display showed 91% charge. This device comes with Windows 11 Home pre-installed.
I used Crystal Disk Info to verify if the SSD had been replaced; it indicated the drive had been started 25 times prior to turning it on. Additionally, it had been used for about three hours. I’m uncertain whether these usage stats relate to the pre-installed operating system or not, but I’m concerned that my brand new laptop might be a refurbished unit.
I spent a reasonable sum for it. Also, I noticed +3 dead pixels on the screen, which seems odd since they appear somewhat blurry rather than sharp.
I’ve never owned any laptops before and it feels quite warm and occasionally sluggish.
where did you buy it?
if it came from an online store, identify the specific seller.
some might have previously shown "refurbished" or "renewed" products.
if it was sold by a reputable retailer but bought online, verify the details.
ensure the description doesn’t suggest it’s refurbished.
if you can confirm it was advertised as new, return it for a refund.
open-box items often have their warranty canceled, which could cause problems later if service is required.
Check the packaging for a Best Buy label indicating it was bought around five months ago. Look for any additional details on the box or receipt that might specify whether it is refurbished or renewed.
confirm with the seller whether this was intended to be a fresh product.
if yes, check the warranty details.
if not, send it back for a refund.
definitely not a brand-new item.
the presence of Best Buy packaging but not from the store indicates it is a used product being removed.
