Hey everyone, I recently assembled my first PC this summer—it performed really well, especially with a 6500xt. I’m currently using an AMD system with a B550 x v2 motherboard. Recently, within the past few days, my machine has been shutting down unpredictably and restarting itself automatically. It was working fine for a short while, but now it’s happening three times in about an hour. I’ve checked that it’s not overheating or anything unusual. My thought is it might be a faulty power supply or motherboard; it just powers off and boots up instantly, with the fans still running. I’ve updated all available software, but I’m looking for any clues or solutions.

Having a detailed PC specifications sheet would be really useful. It might include more than just the power supply, and without knowing your specific components it’s hard to give precise advice.

It seems your PSU might be the issue, do you have another unit available for testing?

It hasn't stopped after a long time—recently it worked three times yesterday and stayed fine. Today it's been working three times again and looks good. Quick question: what power level would be suitable for a 750 setup? I'm planning to buy a new GPU when prices drop, hoping to use warranty claims. Thanks for all your assistance!

Sure, I’d aim for at least 750 watts and make sure the power supply is solid. Don’t cut corners on the unit.

I’ll take care of it—done twice in the past 20 minutes. I’ll check the order and see if that resolves the issue. Thanks!

Recent update: The new 850w power supply didn’t solve the problem; it turned out to be a motherboard. I filed a warranty claim and it’s scheduled for pickup on Monday. Instead of AMD, I purchased an i7 12th gen 12700f, an MSI Z960-A motherboard, and some RAM. Everything is installed and working well this morning—impressive! Now I just need a new graphics card.
