Hello everyone, as mentioned in the title, I’m using Photoshop Elements 6 and thought about upgrading. I understand this is quite outdated, so please be gentle. This is purely for personal projects, not for professional use. I originally downloaded Elements back in 2006 just to meet a need at that time, and I never felt the urge to repurchase again. Recently, I took a look at the newest version and thought it might finally be the right moment to upgrade. From what I know, Elements is indeed the only Adobe product that offers a free subscription model.

I have a few questions regarding Adobe purchases. The product claims it can run on two computers and is linked to your Adobe ID. What happens if one PC fails and you’re unable to deregister? Is there any way to safely remove the product from those systems afterward? Also, my concern about internet dependence is valid—I generally prefer programs that don’t require constant connectivity. Would there be a backup option for remote de-registration?

My other worry is about internet availability. It seems like a potential issue, but I usually dislike software that needs an online connection. Could I use it offline? Perhaps the AI features are lacking? I’m unsure if there’s a time limit before I need to reconnect to ensure continued access.

A few years ago, I felt overwhelmed by Adobe and needed a copy of Acrobat. I found it on eBay for $400, which turned out to be an excellent deal. It works as required, can be installed anywhere without needing an internet connection, and I wish I had acted faster. Sometimes I miss newer features, but I doubt I’ll get another version soon.

This is just some background about what makes me a bit cautious when considering a current Adobe product. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Isn't it better to use GIMP? It has a free license.
