I've turned off my antivirus to attempt a fix, but it didn't help. I've adjusted the settings so it completely ignores the game period. To reinstall Windows, should I insert the disk (using an old-school method) and boot from that drive? Also, when reinstalling, do I need to remove all existing drivers and files for safety, or should I back up everything first and then perform a clean install that resets everything on the HDD? I understand it's better to go for an SSD eventually, but right now I'm planning a very powerful overhaul.

I don't wish to assist; I'm curious about what's going on.

Create a bootable USB from the disc via CMD or Rufus.

That sounds like something you'd want to avoid.

You might want to insert the disc and launch the Windows Refresh/Repair utility. For quick fixes, open Command Prompt with admin rights and execute "sfc /scannow".

Sure, I'll give it a shot and see what works. If it doesn't help, I'll make sure to let everyone know about Gaben's actions.

The command prompt executed successfully. It reported corrupt files in Windows Resource Protection, though it couldn't repair all of them. Additional messages appeared, but I didn’t want to type further.
