I am trying to set up a new PC, but I can't get online through an Ethernet cable.
My PC is an i7-1700K with an MSI MPG Z590 GAMING FORCE 850W power supply, 16GB of DDR4 RAM, a Samsung SSD, and a WD HDD. I put Windows 10 on because my computer doesn't support it yet since all the parts are old and outdated. It worked fine until I plugged in my Ethernet cable. Now it won't connect to anything and keeps telling me that there are no drivers for the internet at all.
I downloaded the driver from the Motherboard website, but nothing works anymore. Even when I try to save the Ethernet driver to a thumb drive and install it on my new PC, it says "Intel Ethernet Network Drivers were not detected." This is very confusing because I did download and install the Intel driver package myself before! Now every time I go to get more drivers, they say no drivers will install. Without internet access, I can't even use those important drivers to fix things.
Should I just send the motherboard back and never buy MSI again? I have never had this much trouble building a computer.
Does this driver pack work for what you are trying? If not, maybe you should try it instead. In most cases, you will also have to install the Intel Chipset pack and the Serial IO pack.
How do you want to get a working router or modem? What about trying another Ethernet cable? Try running some built-in Windows fixes. Those might solve the problem. If those don't work: Open Command Prompt and type ipconfig /all (don't use quotes) then show me what you see.
