I checked that it's all connected to the 5ghz band. I'm mostly guessing what's going wrong since both of my computers use the same wireless chip, but one gets a full 300 mbps speed while the other only hits 50 mbps.

If you have two laptops with the same wifi card, they should perform just as well. When you check the connection status, it might show transmit and receive speeds, but those are actually just how the data is encoded, not real speed differences. Do these numbers differ between your two laptops?
