I visited Microcenter yesterday with a plan to purchase SSDs, but ended up getting a 5600X once they noticed it was available. I’d been aiming to upgrade since October, making this a long-awaited goal. Although my ASRock X370 Taichi wouldn’t get official support for the 5000 series, I wanted to maintain its reliability after buying it in 2017. It’s impressive how I’ve stayed with the same board through four generations of Ryzen processors (1300X → 2600X → 3500X → 5600X). I’ll keep my setup simple. ASRock added unofficial support for the 5000 series in the unannounced 6.61 BIOS update. Without the help of overclock.net’s dedicated users on overclock.net, I wouldn’t have discovered this BIOS. They’ve even managed to flash the X470 Taichi BIOS onto the X370. After installing the BIOS from a USB drive, everything worked perfectly. Then I added the 5600X and it performed instantly—surprising me. Members of overclock.net note that BIOS 6.61 caps PCIe bandwidth at 8x, but in my case, running two R9 290 Vapor-Xs in Crossfire didn’t show any difference. The install completed successfully, CPU-Z confirmed the update and powered on without issues.

I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for Asus to add support. There's a slim chance that we'll see Vermeer support on a majority of 300 series boards.
Looks great with that design! Upgrading from 1700x to 5600x on your X370 Taichi seems doable. I haven’t heard any major stability concerns, but keep an eye on CPU usage and stress levels during the transition.
I kept P95 running all night at 230 RPM with PBO cranked up, and no issues arose so far. This caught me off guard because I set a 1966 FCLK and 3933 CL18 memory. It's wild to consider that the same X370 Taichi that struggled with just 2933 memory in 2017 can now handle 3933, thanks to Vermeer! I'd also note that 6.61 appears to wake up and respond more quickly from sleep.
