HyperX 2933 with four 8GB RAM modules, aiming for speeds of 2133 or 2400 with optimal performance.
Hey everyone, regarding my previous update about the new 2nd gen Threadripper, I'm using a 2970WX and sticking to a 150W custom TDP limit to avoid overheating and large electricity costs during heavy rendering tasks. I have a set of four 8GB DDR4 modules from HyperX, running them at speeds below specifications. This setup gives me a noticeable performance boost in Blender and CPU-Z benchmarks when RAM is throttled down. Typical speeds are around 2133, 2400, or 2666 MHz versus 2933 or higher for overclocking. The memory controller is drawing significant power, which explains the lower CPU limits helping overall performance. I'm testing different timings and hope to find more guidance or suggestions on pushing further or adjusting benchmarks at the provided link. Thanks for your help!
