has anyone upgraded from a hyper212+ to an h110 and experienced real changes? want to understand the actual improvements. is the $120 worth it? could there be a smaller difference, like 3 or even 2 degrees? i currently have a hyper212+ on a 3770K @ 4.5 GHz and am curious if the h110 would really make a noticeable impact.

Dear Evan1715,
Each card has a maximum voltage capacity. A boost of +150mv is a reasonable jump. I’m not certain about the exact model you have, but it would be wise to consult other forum users to confirm it’s safe for your specific card.

You can swap the liquid in both the Eisberg and Glacer coolers. Either distilled water or the colored coolants available on water cooling sites work well. The tubing can also be switched to another color.

These components are available at sites like FrozenCPU.com

It seems unlikely to be worthwhile: refer to the link provided.

If you aim above 4.5 Ghz, look for a high-quality water cooler...but if you prefer staying near that limit, don't go beyond that;
To be truthful, extreme overclocking isn't worth the effort anymore, not as much as it used to be.
😉

I went from Hyper 212 Evo to h100i with 2 cougar vortex fans and I don't think it was worth it, probably going back to air cooling sometime soon for peace of mind incase it might leak/rupture. I guess it was cool for the looks. I'd stick with the hyper 212 unless you have room for a huge high end air cooler

So essentially, I need to invest a lot of money in a good water system for it to really work, especially since hyper212+ and h110 don’t offer much value compared to what I already have.

noctua dh-14 will outperform the others in terms of sound quality, cooling efficiency, and value for money (just 19dB at its peak). As long as your case allows some airflow—even with water cooling—it’s still a solid choice.

If you're okay with the appearance of the ugly noctua, then that's definitely a solid cooler. I think they should release their new black fans for regular buyers, because I'd buy a black version of the dh-14 right away.

I've also heard positive feedback about the NZXT Havik 140mm, Phanteks 140mm (though quite large), and the 120mm model with colored fans—it feels similar in size to the Hyper 212. Silverstone, Thermalright.

From my research at the high-end air cooling market, there aren't many good options. I'm sure only the top-tier air coolers would truly satisfy you compared to the Hyper 212, but it's still a great deal for its price. Check out the black huge Phanteks 140mm.

Basically, I need to invest a lot of money in a good water system for it to really work, especially since hyper212+ isn't that much better for the cost when I already have it. Fuh, lol.

Dear evan1715,
I recommend considering our expandable liquid coolers like the Glacer 240L and the Eisberg 240L.

Yes, noctua dh-14 offers quieter operation, lower cost, reduced risk of pump failure, less chance of causing CPU short circuits in leak situations, and superior performance compared to most $~100 watercoolers like the h100i. Still, for a watercooler setup, cooler master models such as eisber/glacer are generally considered better
