They just released a new trailer for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020:
I'll admit, I'm a bit of a flight enthusiast, so I've been looking forward to this since the first trailer seemed promising, but now I just want to listen it again.
Currently, they're launching it on PC and will check if they can release it on XBox. They're implementing some smart changes to the terrain engine to reduce the demands, which means it might be feasible to bring it to Project Scalette.
In any case, I
want.
I think it's likely reaching Xbox 99.99%. It appears to be a trailer.
I would suggest implementing it at around 80%. The game plans to use the XBox Live service for terrain streaming on PC, though there are some significant interface challenges that must be fixed to run smoothly on the Xbox platform. Notably, the core simulation will rely heavily on mouse input, and historically, Xbox has been quite resistant to mouse-based controls.
They seem to be beginning with this approach:
And it’s essential to have a method to operate it using components compatible with an Xbox setup.
I believe a functional RC-style control interface for a more realistic experience could work, though it will require considerable effort, experimentation, and likely adjustments on the Xbox side. If successful, it could become a standout title for Project Scarlette. However, there’s no certainty about its completion, and even with the excitement, there’s limited room for mistakes on the main project.
I’m confident they possess the correct objectives, the appropriate team, and the necessary tools. Still, if it doesn’t launch as planned, I doubt Microsoft will invest further to fix it afterward.
I'm not aware of any Xbox One title whose gameplay trailer caused the game to fail to launch.
Consider the fact that many games are available on both Xbox and PC, such as Forza, Gears, and Halo Wars. Using Xbox services doesn't limit the game to just Xbox titles. Also, @Harry Voyager mentioned some technical and gameplay challenges when attempting to play it on an Xbox. An update from a recent article states they plan to release it on both platforms in 2020. It will be intriguing to observe its performance, as it relies heavily on texture streaming, and Microsoft seems to be developing an alternative to Stadia that could affect rendering methods.

Very interesting. I'd be very skeptical of whether it could run well on Xbox One hardware, but I am seeing bits that Project Scarlette is targeting end on 2020, and I seem to recall from earlier developer interviews that they were expecting to release the PC version first, and if they do an XBox one, that would come later. I could see them doing a 1st or 2nd quarter PC release, and then following up with a holiday season release on Scarlette. I'll have to listen to more recent interviews to see if they say anything about it.

MS Flight was a PC only Xbox Live title, so it's not unprecedented. Microsoft has rebranded all the games they've done under the XBox label. Does Microsoft even have a separate game label for PC only games? Further, are there any other MS titles that are dependent on streaming data at all? I suspect, in part, this is intended as a demonstrator of Project Azure. There are a lot of moving parts here that just may not fit in an XBox One, even if it's using that branding.
