I acquired two PSUs for my upcoming upgrade... an old Corsair HX 850 I've had for about two years, purchased secondhand at a yard sale for $50 CAD. It came in brand new packaging with a total value of RM750. My current setup includes an i5 10600k, an MSI Z490 Tomahawk, and my old RX590 GPU, which I plan to replace once the GPU situation improves (targeting a 3060 or higher). I’m thinking about overclocking eventually, so keep that in mind. I’m fairly certain both PSUs are more than sufficient for my hardware, but I wanted to know which one you’d prefer between them... I don’t know how long the HX 850 has been used before I bought it, but it seems solid so far. I believe the HX lineup offers better components compared to the RX series. My main concern is choosing between an outdated PSU and one with inferior specs. The PSU I decide not to use will be repurposed elsewhere, and I’ll keep both. I also have a MasterMaster WATT 750 cooler in my friend’s PC that I could swap out... though it doesn’t seem significantly better than the Corsairs I own. Would you recommend purchasing another PSU with much better specs instead of using what I currently have?
