I previously talked about budget CPUs in my last i9 review, but this one caught my attention. It's a tray-style model similar to the Ryzen 1700, without heatsinks or elaborate packaging—just a compact black box with the CPU and label. I found it on Taobao for about $100 USD. The performance matches the original, it's brand new, and the reviews seem genuine. I bought it for personal use in a future project. What do others think about this model? I haven't seen any other Ryzen 1700 or bulk orders before, so it's a new experience for me.
1700 PRO is suitable for OEM or server use, as it doesn't include heatsinks. A solid option if you need 8 cores. For gaming, opt for a faster 4-core configuration.
3100 offers a significantly improved gaming experience, though it may not be ideal for multi-threaded work. If you need performance in such cases, consider the *Bargain* alternative.
I mainly work with CAD using fusion and solidworks, plus some editing and rendering. That’s why I chose this path—it fits my needs better. I was thinking about a tenth gen i5, 17 or a ryzen 5 3500x, but I ended up picking the 1700 mainly because it’s cheaper and better suited for my workflow.
It's actually just the usual 1700s, I don't know why or how but it's a good deal for what I do.
