The Vive offers improved motion tracking and more features. I've used a Rift before and found it impressive. My friend who owns a Vive also says it works well.

Vive works well without Facebook. Rift offers a more affordable option. The next generation headsets might arrive soon, so consider waiting.

You missed out on the opportunity when it was priced at $400. The rift offers stronger game support, but you need to use revive to play pirate oculus games on Vive. Oculus performs significantly better according to Luke.

I've tested both and found the Vive offers superior visual clarity, though it doesn't make a noticeable difference for gaming. The Rift's touch controls outperform the wands in this regard. Movement between devices feels quite alike. The earbuds are nearly indistinguishable.

Rift costs about $400 now with the latest motion controls. I received an email from Newegg this morning. Personally, I’m holding out a little to check if a newer version or an integrated wireless option will launch soon.
