Did you get the system drivers? It seems HPs Windows lacks many of them for their drive controllers. I faced this problem last week and had to add the drivers inside the Windows 10 installer to proceed with the OS installation.

Hello, thank you for your response. I’ve installed all the available drivers—starting from the control panel and then from the HP website. I was dealing with a graphics driver problem, so I checked the HP support tool, which confirmed I had the newest versions installed.

I’d look for unusual drive setups in the BIOS, possibly indicating a RAID setup from a prior owner. If nothing has changed, you can simply restore the BIOS to its original settings.

You've already attempted a BIOS reset and checked for RAID settings, but they're missing from Device Manager. A full Windows reset might help restore default configurations or clear any corrupted entries.

The absence of certain equipment suggests a missing driver, so I need to confirm the workstation's serial number.

I confirmed it! Just removed the SDD drive and its associated software, then restarted the system. Both drives worked fine afterward. Thanks for your assistance! Best, Joe

they reset automatically when the system restarts, effectively updating them in a way that lets the drivers for additional storage get installed (this is what I think)

Your belief is incorrect; even a single faulty MS driver can cause instability. You need to reinstall all MFG drivers instead of allowing MS to overwrite them. This has proven more difficult in recent Windows updates, but MS has made it easier.
