HP Z420 fails to upload with XFX RX580
Hey there! I’ve faced a similar issue with my HP Z420 Workstation. After swapping in the XFX RX580, the screen didn’t appear and the power button turned red with a six-beep error. I used the provided adapter and noticed the power LED was blinking blue, which seemed normal. I updated the BIOS beforehand, repositioned the card multiple times, tried a different PSU, and even swapped out the CMOS settings. The problem persisted across different PCs and with another GPU model. Anyone have suggestions or solutions? Thanks!
I updated the BIOS twice. A second Z420 with identical settings is functioning perfectly.
I found the solution! It looks like Slot 2 (PCIe3 x16) isn't functioning properly, which is why other cards work fine—they only use up to 8 lanes. I was able to get one card running in Slot 3 (PCIe2 x8), but that's not ideal. I plan to acquire a PCIe riser and test the card on Slot 5 (PCIe3 x16). It seems unusual, but Slot 2 appears undamaged and cleaning didn't help.
