HP Victus 16 won't start right after I added more memory sticks.
Hi there! I have an HP Victus 16 d509LA computer. I bought a RAM kit from Amazon called TEAMGROUP T-Create Classic DDR4 32 GB (two sticks of 16 GB) at 3200 MHz. When I put it in, the PC won't start. The power button light goes on for two seconds and then goes off immediately. Nothing else happens. Even trying to get into BIOS doesn't work. I tried with my old 16GB kit that had different sticks back then and it started up fine. Also, if I mix an 8GB stick with a 16GB stick, they only start working when one is facing the other in a specific way. Through HWINFO, someone told me that some slots only accept Samsung branded chips while my other slot works with Micron RAMs. Is this normal?
Hey there new friend! I tried with my old 16gb kit and it worked, but when I put in just 8 or 16gb they only work if the sticks are in a specific spot. What's the deal? Could you send pictures of those working sticks to me? Do tell me what RAM versions got installed before on this site too? My HP Victus 16 d509LA has a certain BIOS version, but their website isn't listing that model well. Maybe check your serial number there and see if they have BIOS updates for it. If you need to update the BIOS, go ahead and do it. Then unplug from the wall and take out the battery. Hold down the power button for 30 seconds before putting one stick of RAM into the laptop. Put the battery back in and try turning it on. If you start up okay with the OS, turn off, remove the battery, put the second stick of RAM into place, replace the battery, then try turning it on again. See if that helps!
Hi, thanks so much for the welcome! Here on this link are all the Rams. Edit: the ones that worked are both 8gb models. https://imgur.com/a/fK9QtyI View: https://imgur.com/a/fK9QtyI BIOS is up to date I think, F.21, just updated today.
