I purchased my roommate a basic HP Elitedesk 800 G3 SFF just to help him get started, but it required installing the 16GB RAM after some adjustments. Despite that, the system only reached around 2133MHz. I couldn’t locate any BIOS setting for frequency and other forums suggest there isn’t one here. They mentioned the RAM speed is limited by what the CPU can handle. Since my machine has an i5-7500, I’ve successfully run it at full speed with this CPU in a previous setup. I’m still confused about how to proceed.

It seems the system doesn't back XMP, just JEDEC standards. RAM without a JEDEC profile over 2133 won't boost performance.

This setup can reach speeds up to 2400 MT/s. Without the 2400 profile, performance will drop to 2133.
