HP Pavilion Notebook - W0Y09EA#ABU fails to apply Windows updates.
Hello, Your request seems a bit unusual and I'm not sure where to post it. Please check if this is in the appropriate section of the forum. Sorry if it's not. My father-in-law uses a laptop mainly for emails. Outlook 2013 seems to have stopped working, possibly after an update. He prefers Outlook but finds the browser version less user-friendly. I've tried installing a newer Office version, but it keeps failing. The Windows update is also refusing to install "Windows 10 20H2" and mentions a BIOS update requirement. HP has told me they no longer support the laptop and won't provide drivers. I've attached photos of the laptop specifications and BIOS. I'm hoping someone can assist. Thank you ahead of time.
I have a fairly old HP laptop from around 2012. I reinstalled Windows, and the update process found all the necessary drivers on its own. I was planning to add HP-specific drivers, but I didn’t bother. It’s likely they haven’t updated them in a long time. If you need to update the BIOS, it’s usually available for download on their website or through an HP app that can handle updates automatically. This app might already be installed on the system.
If it were for me personally, I’d consider it. It was just my father-in-law’s laptop—70 years old—and he mainly uses it for Outlook. It feels like a waste to throw it away and replace it, even though it’s outdated. Thanks for the advice! I’m planning to try reinstalling Windows and hoping it works out.
