Hp Pavilion laptop charger not connecting properly
Hp Pavilion laptop charger not connecting properly
Hi, I have a customer's laptop experiencing a charging issue. They're using three different chargers—two new ones and one genuine. The device charges for about ten seconds before the charger disconnects itself. It doesn't display any error message indicating it isn't connected, just that it fails to register being plugged in. After replacing the DC power jack, the motherboard, battery, and charger, the problem continues. I've also updated the battery and charger drivers without success. The laptop still charges when turned off, suggesting a possible software or firmware problem rather than a hardware fault. It's running the latest BIOS version, but the issue persists. Thank you, J Donnelly.
Here’s a revised version of your message:
Hi there! @Kamel2233, thank you for reaching out to the HP Support Forum. I’m happy to assist you. Could you please answer a few questions so I can help more effectively? Have you made any changes to your software or hardware on the laptop? Did you try using a different charger? Are you using an authentic HP power adapter? Were there any recent updates to Windows on your computer? Does your device shut down when you disconnect the charger from the PC? Your description is clear and the diagnosis is solid – thank you for sharing. Let’s begin troubleshooting together. Consider updating the BIOS on your system and see if that resolves the problem. You can download the update via this link. For driver updates, use the HP Support Assistant. Check if there are any bent or damaged pins inside the charging port or DC connector. Follow these steps to fix it:
1. Press the Start button.
2. Type “Device Manager” in the search bar and open it.
3. Look under Batteries and expand it by clicking the plus sign on the left.
4. Right-click on “Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery” and uninstall.
⚠️ Note: This driver will reinstall automatically after restarting your notebook.
5. Shut down the notebook.
6. Remove the battery and unplug the power adapter.
7. Hold the power button for one minute.
8. Reinsert the battery and reconnect the adapter.
9. Check the Battery icon for “Plugged In Charging.”
10. Perform a hard reset and try again.
If the issue continues, it may be a hardware problem. Please get in touch with HP support for further help.
Looking forward to your update! Have a great weekend!
