Hi everyone, my HP Pavilion is going through a BIOS update but it’s stuck at 39% and hasn’t changed for the last hour. I read online that turning on Windows + B or V together with the power button might help, but nothing seems to work. I’m worried about battery life if it runs out, so I’m not sure what to do next. Any advice or solutions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

If it's the model with Ryzen 3000, the same problem occurred. Mainboards don't offer native BIOS recovery. Fortunately, I managed to stay firm yet polite with HP support using my extended warranty. They provided the drop shipping label, sent it overnight, and completed everything over the weekend.

I’d keep it overnight if feasible. If it doesn’t stop by then, reach out to support. Either way, switch it off at your own hazard—can’t predict if it’ll cause damage.

Yeah... I think it’s better to wait until morning. Hope things work out, or else it could be tough. It might be worth waiting to see how it performs. Just be careful when shutting it down—it could go wrong. What are you doing with the battery update?

The same issue occurred with my ASUS Transformer Book, as mentioned by @bmx6454. If it doesn't improve within the night, it's likely permanently damaged. I'm hoping to have a better situation than this and still have warranty coverage. Otherwise, use a USB BIOS programmer, reset and reprogram the chip, and you should be fine.
