Hey, this morning I tried to power on my HP Pavillion 15 Laptop (15-eh3000, 794P4AV). It doesn’t seem to turn on at all. Last night it worked fine while I was studying, but now the power light comes on and fans spin, yet nothing displays. Even when the power indicator lights up, pressing the caps lock doesn’t activate the LED. There are no diagnostic beeps either. I’ve booted into safe mode by shutting it down completely and using F10, then turning it back on a few times, and I’ve also tried connecting an HDMI cable to my monitor to check for display issues, but that didn’t help. I’m really frustrated—this is my laptop, barely over a year old.

Check if HP can assist while the product is under warranty. If not, does it stop functioning once the power indicator lights up? This is common with HP products.

The warranty has ended roughly two weeks back, which means I’m stuck in this situation. It doesn’t power off once the power indicator lights up; the light stays on until I either shut it down or restart the device.

The engineers handled the problem well. Based on my experience, it seems like a memory or CPU-related issue—CPU problems are highly unlikely. You might try reseating the RAM, start with just one stick installed, and swap it if necessary. If that doesn’t resolve it, I’m not sure what’s going on without being there to check.

On a laptop, a lack of response often stems from memory problems or, more frequently, results in the failure of the mainboard.

These components are designed to feel soft, almost like a pillow. It’s possible the mainboard might have weak solder connections.

I’m puzzled about how a device stays functional until it stops unexpectedly. I’ll take it to a tech support center today and see what they find.

Because you're looking to save money, opting for a pre-owned ThinkPad or Latitude makes sense. HP originally means Hinge Problem and Help Please!

He basically thought the problem is probably with the hardware, maybe the motherboard. Just updated my warranty and expect it to be fixed, but I might go for a different laptop instead of an HP. If you have any suggestions, I'd love to hear them. Right now I'm checking out some refurbished ThinkPads, not HP at all.
