Hello, my name is Jeff. I've been working on building gaming PCs for clients and friends recently. Last week I completed five builds, and this week I'm handling four more. My fee is $100 per build. Recently, a client reached out a few days ago asking to upgrade his HP Omen 30L. He wanted to replace the motherboard and RAM to boost performance, since HP says their components can't be upgraded through BIOS or software. He also wants to switch everything to a Lian Li Lancers III Mesh, which I'm familiar with. I could only reply that I'd do some research and get back to him—I'm not sure HP Omen parts are upgradable, but I read some people had succeeded with similar changes. I'm confident I could do it, though I don't know if the new board would power on or if the AIO would fit. I'm not very comfortable with HP software, but I understand his goal is to improve performance. The machine has an Intel i9 10850K, RTX 3080, a 750W HCP/Master power supply, a 1TB SSD, 2TB HD, and 32GB RAM. The motherboard is a Micro ATX model I can't find much info on. He has a $600 budget and wants to keep the CPU, GPU, and RAM as is. He's convinced he needs a motherboard upgrade, case change, and RAM upgrade. I tried suggesting a micro ATX compatible with the 10850K, but it would be risky. I'm unsure if the OS on the SSD and HD drives would work, whether the old PSU would fit, or if the AIO would connect properly. My priority is helping him, but I need to decide whether this job is feasible or if I should stick to a simpler solution.

Hey there, Jeff. I found the perfect fix for your HP Omen 30L cooling issue. I swapped the side-door glass for plexiglass and installed a direct intake fan to the cooler. I even upgraded to a Noctua DH-15 cooler, which lowered the temps from 60°C to around 30°C. Gaming temps dropped to the 90s, and it runs quietly at 60-70°C. I’ve documented the whole process in a detailed time-lapse video. It’s a straightforward upgrade that fits your budget and is easy to do yourself.
