I started my laptop today to find out it wasn't drawing power from the PSU. Lately I've been playing Helldivers 2 at maximum settings, which means the system is working hard for hours on end. It seems this has worn down the power supply a bit faster than usual, with a draw of 223-228 watts from a 230-watt unit. I'm planning to replace the PSU, but anyone know why the top light keeps flashing? It goes off twice per second and doesn't match any error codes. Also, the "powering up/using power" indicator near the barrel jack stays off even when windows are open. But windows detects power and runs Helldivers at 60 frames per second, which shouldn't happen on a battery-only setup. In short, I have a working machine with some odd power problems—any thoughts on whether this could lead to bigger issues later? I've attached a video with the flashing light, Helldivers gameplay, and my voiceover. Edit: The top red light becomes static when unplugged from the PSU, suggesting a power issue when connected to mains. Edit 2: It feels like overheating—after unplugging it cooled down a bit. I tried using a metal block and a fan on it. Could be a loose connection inside the PSU or near the barrel jack, since I sometimes hear arcing. Also, all the lights seem to be functioning now. Edit 3: Honestly, after loading into a Helldivers match, the power problems disappeared. I think it's because the PSU was pulling too much current, which then caused it to shut down permanently—resulting in everything failing. It’s moments like these that make consoles look so impressive. Thanks for any help, WhatsApp Video 2024-05-14 at 21.42.49_1d257021.mp4

Consider avoiding maximum settings if the laptop is fairly new and you purchased it from a standard retailer rather than a place like Facebook. You might have a warranty to use. It could also be a battery problem—try removing the battery under the cover, then connect the computer using the barrel jack in. Even checking the internal barrel jack might help.

The power supply for the laptop seemed to be the problem. The machine worked normally, but I suspect the PSU was damaged. I might take it apart to check, and I’m aware of the capacitor issues beforehand.

Get the genuine product from the manufacturer's site. On eBay, you often find rebranded versions that might not perform well with high-wattage applications.
