I purchased a new HP Omen 16 with the following specifications: CPU I7-12700H, 16GB RAM (2 x 8GB), 1TB SSD, 165Hz display at 2560x1440. I was excited to test 3D rendering tools and games but faced performance issues. I updated graphics settings, switched from Game Ready drivers to studio drivers and back, even downgrading them, but results remained poor. Problems persisted with software and games when using a screen with native 1920x1080 resolution and 60Hz refresh rate. The software (D5 render, Twinmotion) struggled, while games like FIFA 23, Spider-Man Miles Morales, and God of War: Ragnarok performed better only on higher resolutions. To improve smoother performance, consider adjusting display settings, ensuring drivers match your monitor’s capabilities, and possibly using a higher refresh rate screen if available.

The GPU is a component that handles graphics processing. When you hear about a crash, it can refer to either a crash to desktop or a sudden shutdown like a laptop powering off unexpectedly.

Checked for any hardware problems and confirmed drivers are up-to-date. Suggested running Cinebench to evaluate CPU performance and determine if GPU drivers are the root cause.

Looking for a way to monitor your drivers while testing CPU performance on Cinebench?

Check if HP offers software for managing hardware settings and driver updates. The documentation often lists the relevant tool, such as Asus' Armoury Crate or MSI's MSI Center. Since I haven't used any HP products before, I'm uncertain about their specific solution.
