HP Omen 15 laptop facing several BSOD occurrences.
Hello,
My HP Omen 15 (15-en0023dx) is experiencing various BSODs. Most of the time the error codes are IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL or KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED. As the number of BSODs has grown, so has the range of codes appearing. They occur both when the system is under load and when it isn’t, and they happen regardless of how long the machine has been running.
System details:
Product Name: OMEN Laptop - 15-en0023dx
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 4800H
Memory: 16 GB DDR4-3200 SDRAM (2 x 8 GB)
SSD: 1 TB PCIe NVMe M.2 SSD
GPU: GTX 1660 Ti
Observed stop codes:
IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED
HYPERVISOR_ERROR
EXCEPTION_ON_INVALID_STACK
ATTEMPTED_EXECUTE_OF_NOEXECUTE_MEMORY
SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION
PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA
Troubleshooting actions taken:
- DISM Scan/Check/RestoreHealth – OK
- SFC /Scannow – OK
- Chkdsk C: /F – OK
- Uninstall and reinstall Nvidia driver via DDU
- BIOS updated (fast boot disabled)
- Device drivers refreshed with HP Assistant
- Windows 11 reinstalled from flash drive
- RAM tested with Memtest86+ – OK
- Replaced both RAM modules one at a time
- Installed new laptop charger
- Swapped SSD and reinstalled Windows 11

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!
Discover how to perform a clean reinstall of Windows 11 from a USB flash drive.
Where did you obtain the installer for your operating system?
Regarding your installation process, did you set up the OS in offline mode? After installation, did you manually add all necessary drivers for your laptop—such as right-clicking the installer and selecting "Run as Administrator"? To do this, you would need to download the required drivers onto a separate drive using another system.
Hi, thanks for the response. I created the Windows installer using the Windows Create Installation Media tool. I just did a regular install, not offline and not with any manual driver installing. If that is something you think I need to do is there any chance you could link to a guide detailing the steps?
Thanks for your help.
From the dumps this seems highly likely a RAM issue. Without going into detail, you have a few misaligned instruction pointer errors, some garbage address references, and a faulty PTE (Page Table Entry). RAM is by far the most probable cause, both alone and together.
Sorry, I didn't enable minidumps at that time, so I don't have any to upload. I can attempt to switch back to single sticks of RAM and submit any future dumps if you believe they could assist in diagnosing the problem. Regarding the Windows installation, the drive I used was a brand new SSD that had never been utilized before when I performed the install.
Yes, Windows is completely current. No warning or triangle icons appear next to any devices in the device manager. I've also shared the most recent BSOD report files, which are stored in a subfolder within the Google Drive folder.
Regrettably your latest updates emphasize RAM heavily. Even though you've installed new RAM, we can temporarily set it aside.
I recommend you
begin Windows in Safe Mode,
starting with Safe Mode without networking initially. In this mode, Windows runs only the essential services and almost no third-party drivers. If it still experiences BSODs in Safe Mode, it's likely a hardware issue. Since your system is cleanly installed, this strongly points to a hardware problem. However, since you've already reinstalled Windows, it appears the issue remains hardware-related.
During Safe Mode, many of your devices may not function properly or at all due to missing third-party drivers. For instance, your display might appear at low resolution because only the basic Windows driver is active. You won't be able to perform normal tasks in Safe Mode; it's mainly used to check for BSODs. Please continue using the laptop as long as possible so we can observe any further issues.
Once you encounter a BSOD in Safe Mode, stop testing immediately. This will help confirm that the problem is hardware-based. On a laptop, there are limited options to test components, but I can suggest some tests if needed.
