HP OEM board features an 18-pin connector... what should I do to upgrade the PSU?
Hey, I'm trying to upgrade my old HP laptop. The GPU is 450W, but the PSU only supports up to 400W. It has an 18-pin main plug instead of the usual 24, which makes me a bit confused. I haven't found any 28-pin PSUs on the market, but I saw some adapters online. Should I go with them or look for another solution? Thanks!
You purchase a motherboard compatible with the PSU and discard the original manufacturer parts. Alternatively, you locate the PSU specifically designed for the HP model to ensure proper fit. I’d go with the first option.
Which HP setup do you have? Which graphics card are you attempting to add? HP employs various kinds of connectors, so it's important to verify that the adapter matches your specific model. Make sure your device is among the versions mentioned by the eBay seller.
