Hi everyone, I recently purchased a new toner for my printer, but it's not the original one. I installed the chip from the original toner. I can scan and copy documents easily, but printing from the PC is problematic—it keeps showing a "print error" because the old chip is being treated as empty. The amber light on the cartridge keeps blinking. Do you know how to force a print or reset the printer so it thinks the cartridge is fuller? Thanks!

It seems you're referring to a toner cartridge, not an inkjet printer. You mentioned receiving power with yellow light, which suggests a laser setup. DRM restrictions on printers are a big issue for me—I usually link those problems to inkjet models, though I haven’t owned one recently. I’m not sure how to work around it, but it’s likely well documented if someone has figured it out. Occasionally, manufacturers make mistakes, which can cause these kinds of issues.

I searched extensively before starting this discussion, but no results appeared. Printing via a copy with the scanner works, but printing directly from the PC causes an error.

Currently, there might not be any options available. The idea is to avoid purchasing a printer that supports DRM from the start.

I hadn't realized there existed something like this.

There might not be any more options for consumers. At the business side, they don’t tolerate this kind of thing. Used to be, no printer had DRM built in. There was a time when Canon didn’t include DRM and just sold printers as hardware. Now I see they’re among the most problematic. They exploit the brand. Epson used to be there too.

This only intensifies my dislike for printers even further...
