Attempting to reinstall Windows on this laptop is proving quite challenging. At some point during the installation process, you reached a stage where you could pick a drive, but no physical drive was actually present—just partitions. The main drive simply indicates it doesn’t support USB installation. I’m unsure when this issue began. I’ve tried disabling Intel Raid in BIOS, but it didn’t help. There seems to be no option for Legacy boot or switching between UEFI and other modes, which might be a common workaround. I haven’t used the HP Cloud Recovery tool yet, and I don’t expect much success with it. I considered a factory reset, but that would be risky since the customer doesn’t remember the password. My priority is to get Windows back without altering anything else.
Your laptop lacks Legacy BIOS support since it doesn’t recognize it. UEFI technology has been available for more than a decade, but many machines no longer include it. Do you still have Windows installed? You can reinstall it using the Windows installer. The device does accept USB booting, and there are videos showing the process online—try resetting BIOS settings if that helps. You might also find model-specific guidance by contacting HP support on their forums.
It doesn't really allow USB loading at all. I ended up using the HP Cloud Recovery Tool on a 64GB flash drive. It looks like HP was trying to push it, at least here. Maybe I accidentally did it while trying to reinstall. The laptop refused to install from USB in any way, keeping insisting so no matter what I did. I'm going to keep that USB stick for future HP issues like this, okay?
