Hey, I see you're aiming to boost your HP Z620 CPU for CAE/CAD work. You're currently running two Xeon E5 2620 processors and are looking for more cores and higher clock speeds. Need some recommendations or a list of compatible CPUs? Let me know if you want more details!

Upgrade options include any Sandy Bridge Xeons, commonly referred to as first-gen E5 models. V2(ivy-bridge) CPUs won't fit. With a dual processor setup, you'll require two identical E5-26xx chips. For performance, consider 2 x E5-2690 (8 cores, base boost 3.9, max 8th gen). If budget is a priority, opt for 2 x E5-2680 (2.7 GHz, 8 cores, max boost 3.5).

Sure thing! I might attempt to acquire a few used 2687W units if feasible. I’m counting on it helping me until I can get a Threadripper setup...
