If you manage to set it up correctly, it could work, but with very basic configurations it might still slow down. We all know for a fact it’s unlikely to launch in January, let alone run smoothly on a PC. Rockstar really knows how to mess things up.
Thanks for the update. Actually, I’m not sure why GTA IV performs so well on my PC. Everything is fully utilized, even anti-aliasing at x16. It runs smoothly even during rainy weather in-game. I’ve been checking forums and seeing many users say it runs poorly on an i5 quad-core with more RAM and GPU than mine—totally confusing!
I understand. I'm aiming to upgrade quickly since the current setup is terrible. I'm really excited. I'm thrilled. I've always struggled with smooth gameplay on PC, ever since I started playing. But this new graphics card lets me run full settings and it's amazing. I still think GTA V won't work at max settings—maybe just 20 fps? I love GTA V. It's incredible!
They probably figured out how to make things work better even on poor hardware, so companies don’t have to do all the work themselves. Instead, they just suggest using old IBM towers from the 90s.
Generally, players with less experience used hardware that wasn't well maintained in the studios where they played the game. Making optimizations is a difficult process, and most developers don't prioritize it, but when they do, the players really enjoy it.
