I removed AMD overdrive and then immediately restarted, resetting the BIOS to "load optimized default" settings after a reboot. Despite this, I remain overclocked. My system has an 8320 CPU and a GA 990fxa ud3 r5 motherboard.

When attempting an OC and modifying a setting in the BIOS, you aim to lock it in place. During the process, you don't wish for changes—you prefer stability. The presence of turbo indicates a reset to the original configuration.

what is the cpu speed currently?
it's showing 4 ghz, which is the turbo setting, but i need to disable it myself.

Is it maintaining 4GHz or merely increasing to 4Ghz when required? Were you originally overclocked? If so, you might need to reset certain components to revert to the original settings. I’ve disabled OC and returned to defaults, trying to understand why my PC takes 30 seconds to POST and resumes at the standard 3.5 with turbo disabled, since overdrive disables turbo completely. The issue isn’t just about staying at 4Ghz, but whether it’s stuck there or simply adjusting to the frequency.

Is it maintaining 4GHz or just increasing to 4Ghz when required? Were you previously overclocked? If so, you might need to enter overdrive mode and adjust certain components to restore the original settings. I’ve turned off OC on my PC and set it to defaults to try understanding why it takes 30 seconds to POST and restarts at the default 3.5GHz without turbo. The turbo setting isn’t critical, but it seems stuck at 4Ghz or failing to switch properly. I attempted an OC before but didn’t modify any motherboard settings, which didn’t help much.

If it is just going to 4Ghz when it needs to then it is running normally as turbo mode is on by default. No harm in leaving it that way. If it was stuck at 4Ghz then yea there are some setting going on in there.

But before it didnt used to do this it would stat at 3.5

If you were attempting an OC and adjusting a BIOS setting would stop it from updating, then during the process you didn't want changes to stick. Since you're OC, you prefer it to remain unchanged. The turbo setting indicates everything is reverting to the default state.

Ohg I just noticed before I didn't have unlocked it, which is why I couldn't do an OC. Before I began using AMD overdrive turbo, it was off.
