How to Speed Up PC
Hey everyone, I'm experiencing some FPS drops on my system. Particularly with League of Legends, which used to run smoothly at around 120 FPS on a clean setup a couple of years ago. Now it starts at 120 but drops to about 80-90 when things get busy, and sometimes it even freezes for a short time. I don’t want to reinstall Windows, so I’m curious—what programs or scripts are you using to clean your system? Maybe a little tweak could help.
Begin by investigating the source of the 0.5 second freezes in Task Manager while playing. Look for any malware on your device. Attempt to reinstall the latest NVIDIA drivers using DDU and scan for general driver issues. Do you mean a clean system, identical to your current setup but with a fresh Windows installation?
There isn't a simple solution. Programs that promise to tidy up a system can sometimes cause unexpected issues.
Monitor system temperatures first, as this is usually the initial step, and it should be done consistently to notice any shifts. Remove dust, reapply thermal paste if necessary or preferred.
Given the current hardware, you might also think about swapping out fans as a precaution. However, if they're silent, they seem fine for now.
Software tips:
Keep all drivers updated (motherboard, audio, GPU)
Uninstall unused programs
Close applications and taskbar elements during gaming sessions
I checked task manager a cant see anything obvious, maybe is SSD failing , i will try move The game to hdd and i will see. GPU drivers should be fine, LoL is using GPU 15-20% max
Ensure the PC is fully clean, covering CPU and GPU cooler fins, and confirm it isn’t overheating. Verify your storage isn’t overloaded, maintaining at least 15% free space as measured by Windows. Also, double-check for any unnecessary files or malware using free tools such as CCleaner or Malwarebytes. When mentioning phrases like "on clean system 2 yrs ago" and "LOL" regarding drive capacity, it seems you’re referring to its past performance or outdated storage limits. This raises the possibility that you haven’t maintained proper management of available space or the PC’s general health.
Perform an extravagant installation of Windows 10. It completely swaps all your Windows files, which is perfect if you're dealing with corruption. If that doesn't resolve the issue, it's likely not Windows itself but another program or hardware at fault. Obtain Windows 10 from microsoft.com. Choose the Upgrade option—it will install Windows over your existing setup without erasing your data. Also, create a backup beforehand, just in case something goes wrong.
