I'm considering consolidating my downloaded tv shows onto a single storage device for simpler access. Would it be more convenient to use an external hard drive connected to my tv, or should I opt for a plex server for better management?

The main priority would be to obtain two copies of each item, possibly using any available method. It seems this might already fit into your existing strategy. How about checking the estimated overall storage requirement for all these programs—do you know the rough size in gigabytes or terabytes?
