How to run RDR2 on 4K and whether an OC can improve performance on your PC
currently i'm achieving 40fps in RDR2 at 4K with all settings at maximum, except for MSAA. my system includes an RTX2080ti from Asus Strix, paired with an i9 9900k. could optimization improve performance?
Based on my experience, RDR2 depends more on the GPU than the CPU, even when using the ultra setting. I think overclocking the CPU wouldn't make much difference. Boosting the GPU could help a bit, but likely not significantly. I'd suggest adjusting advanced settings and lowering water refraction to low while increasing water reflection quality to high — this should already improve FPS.
I don't believe that's possible, RDR2 is the new Crysis, they developed visual features that exceed the capabilities of our current systems.
No you will need to customize the settings. Max settings is way to intensive even for the 2080ti. Try a mixture of Ultra and High, mainly high, there really isn't a difference, adjust the grass detail slider halfway and the water physics quality slider halfway and see if it helps. Also with FXAA and TAA on you don't need MSAA on at all. MSAA is very intensive. I'd say have it on like x2 if you want it.
Eh, I really think the OP doesn't need them. These videos work well for people with much weaker hardware, like mine with an 8700K and a GTX1080 that isn't Ti. By just adjusting water and shadow settings to lower quality, everything should be fine. The OP has a significantly better GPU, so I'd say tweaking those water settings should suffice.
