The story begins with the reality that Microsoft was updating my PC to Windows 10 (now known as Aces). I used Aces for some time, assuming everything would work fine and no updates would be needed. One morning, while playing World of Tanks on Faceit, a significant price jump appeared, and Aces initiated a restart for what seemed like important updates. That’s when I realized I might want to switch back to Windows 7 or explore Linux without paying for a license. I recall my system likely had Windows 7 installed at the time it was built, though I’m not certain anymore.

You can achieve a win 10 without automatic restarts, though I’m unsure about win 7’s behavior after reinstalling. Upgrading might work, but opinions vary on Linux as a choice due to limited game support.

You might attempt to reinstall Windows 7 once more, but if that fails, you may need to obtain a fresh 7 key or continue using the 'aids' option, even though your setup made it worse—something like my 'aids' did not handle that issue.

Windows allows you 30 days to complete the update... If you don’t restart your device within that time, you might face issues.

You have the option to disable automatic restarts, and since the latest update, you can also limit them to specific periods.
